De-shedding (&/or carding)

A de-shedding program is very effective for many coat types.

Labradors & retrievers in particular shed excess dead & loose hair all the time.

Weekly or bi-monthly de-shedding dramatically reduces the amount of hair your dog sheds in your home. It massages the skin & invigorates the remaining coat, leaving it glossy & neat.

Maintaining double coats
When done seasonally carding & stripping is by far the most effective way of clearing excessive undercoat & maintaining the guard coat of spaniels (cavaliers, cockers, springers & sprockers), setters & other silky double coats.
Especially suitable for silky double coated neutered males, where hormonal changes have compromised the original coat texture, leaving it fluffy, flyaway & unmanageable.

Stripping

Stripping simulates plucking, the traditional procedure employed to maintain many wiry, stiff coats - such as terriers.

A variety of handstripping tools removes dead & loose coat quickly & methodically.

The procedure leaves the remaining new growth to lie flat & tidy against the body. Done seasonally its a great way to keep a pet looking neat while maintaining the natural texture & colour of its coat.

The condition of a regularly carded coat is significantly improved in a short period of time. If your dog has dry coat hair or suffers from a flaky, dry skin condition exacerbated by bathing then carding may be a feasible alternative. Overbathing strips the coat and compromises its natural moisture repellent qualities. Carding distributes your dog's natural oils throughout the coat, keeping it in optimum condition. Can be done in conjunction with a dry shampoo & a leave-in conditioner or coat polish.
